Fund

A pool of many people's money, invested together in a basket of assets.

A fund collects money from many investors and uses it to buy a basket of assets — shares, bonds or both. Each investor owns units of the fund in proportion to what they put in, and the fund owns the assets.

The fund's value moves with what it holds. Running it costs money, which is taken from the fund's assets as a yearly fee.
