Pre-market trading

Trading in US shares before the regular session opens at 9:30 New York time.

Many brokers offer it from about 4:00 New York time, some from later. Far fewer people trade then, so spreads are usually wider and prices can jump more; a pre-market price may not hold once the regular session opens.

The hours, and whether you can trade at all, depend on your broker.
