EPS (earnings per share)
A company's net income divided by its number of shares.
A company with $300 million of net income and 150 million shares has EPS of $2.00. Because it is per share, it changes when the number of shares changes, even if profit does not.
Companies often report an official EPS and an "adjusted" one; analysts' estimates are often for the adjusted figure.
