Guidance
A company's own forecast of its future results, such as next quarter's revenue.
Many companies give guidance with their earnings report, often as a range, and raise, keep or lower it as the year goes on.
Because a price reflects expected future profit, guidance below what analysts expected can push a share down even after a strong quarter.
